Histiocytosis is a disease that affects about 1,000 new individuals, primarily young children, each year. It can cause lifelong problems and be fatal. The cause, cure, and best treatments are unknown, and since it is rare, there is no government-funded research regarding the disease. Unfortunately when you read Jacob's Story, you will see that the pain and suffering associated with this disease is just as severe as those receiving major government funding.
